The widest cut the house makes. Gathered at the neck and released completely, so the whole garment hangs from the shoulders and touches nothing else. Madder root gives the wine colour, which will shift a half-shade toward rose over the years it is worn. Deep side pockets are cut into the seam, not applied to it.

Cold hand wash, alone, the first two times — madder is a natural dye and gives up its surface colour. Line dry in shade. Never wring; the crinkle is set into the cloth and pressing it out cannot be undone. Natural fibres evolve — the garment softens and molds to you. We call it the patina of ease.
